Answers! An Update on Mille's Hearing Journey (21 months old)

Yesterday we received answers to questions we've had since January. Thankfully, the answers we received were best case scenarios! Thank you, Jesus!

Since our appointments in January 2023, Millie was showing fluid in her middle ear. She was also showing mild hearing loss in her right ear. Appointments in April and May revealed the same things - fluid in her middle ear and hearing loss. Fluid can cause hearing loss. So was the fluid causing her hearing loss? Or did she have fluid AND progressed hearing loss in her right ear. Would she need tubes to help with the fluid? Or was it residual fluid from prior illnesses? Would the fluid be gone but the hearing loss remain? So many unanswered questions!

Yesterday, Millie and I had an appointment at the Milwaukee campus of Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and met with her Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor. Thankfully, there was NO FLUID in her right ear! That meant we wouldn't need tubes! Next steps were to test her hearing. Her ENT doctor said he was going to try to get her in (on-site) for testing. (Apparently, there is a team "on-call" for scenarios like this. How amazing is that?!)

We got in almost immediately! I couldn't believe it!

So since Millie's ears were "healthy", it was crucial to test her hearing to see if there was any hearing loss. Thankfully, there was no hearing loss in her right ear and her left ear was stable! Millie will not need a hearing aid in her right ear at this time!

I am so thankful for answers and the care we received yesterday! It was such a blessing to get questions answered and also have the answers be best case scenario! We continue to be so thankful for the girls' team of amazing doctors and the care we receive from Children's Hospital.

Millie, I love being on this journey with you!
