15-Month Schedule, Milestones, & Memories

My little girl is 15 months old today!

I just can't believe it! I have loved every single stage Lainey has been in, but I feel that this age is incredibly special! Lainey has grown so much in the last three months! She is so smart, fun, and is sweeter than honey.

I thought 15 months would be a good time to document her schedule, as well as other milestones and memories I want to hold onto.

Lainey's schedule varies each day and is all dependent on when she wakes in the morning. It is usually between 7:15 - 7:45 am, but yesterday morning, she slept until 8:15!

I try to keep the same amount of "awake" hours each day, despite what time Lainey wakes for the day. Once Lainey is awake, I try to keep her up for 1.5 - 2 hours before putting her down for her morning nap. Once she wakes from her morning nap, I try to keep her up for 2.5 - 3 hours before she goes down for her afternoon nap. Typically after her afternoon nap, she is awake for 1.5 - 2 hours before bedtime. Bedtime is usually at 7 pm but is all dependent on how she is doing- sometimes bedtime is earlier (like 6:30 pm).

Currently, Lainey goes down for two naps but she doesn't always sleep during both.

Each of Lainey's naps are around 1.5 - 2 hours. When Lainey doesn't nap, I can hear her talking, singing, yelling for Mack, sucking her thumb while rubbing her head, or standing along her railing. She doesn't cry and is super content relaxing in her crib so I leave her and she will either self-soothe or will use the time to rest.

For us, allowing Lainey to rest has been super beneficial- and in my opinion, is needed for her to reset and recharge. I have read and learned from Lainey's Audiologist that deaf or hard of hearing individuals may get especially tired. Hearing is done with the brain, not the ears. Lainey's brain has to work especially hard to process sound and listen. This extra work and intense listening can be especially tiring. I have noticed this with Lainey. She goes hard but also crashes pretty fast. She seems to really benefit from her quiet time and naps.

Here is her schedule in more detail:

Lainey, as of 15 months

7:30 am: awake

8:00 am: breakfast

9:15 am: morning nap

11:30 am: awake from nap

12 noon: lunch

2:30 pm: afternoon nap

5:00 pm: awake from nap

5:30 pm: dinner

6:45 - 7 pm: start bedtime process (bath, PJs, essential oils, wind down with Mom in rocking chair)

Milestones

  • Fully weaned, 14 months

  • First steps, 14 months (but still prefers to crawl)

  • Identified her ears & wants them in, 14 months

  • Sign & speech (more below)

Lainey's sign and speech has really taken off in the past 3 months. At 12 months, she was signing 6 words but at 15 months she is signing 23 words! I honestly can't learn them fast enough! She is also speaking words and usually speaks and signs words at the same time but right now, I tend to understand her sign better than her spoken words. I absolutely love how well she's taken to sign!

Here is the list of words she can sign:

  • Milk

  • More

  • Please

  • All done

  • Music

  • Mama/Dada

  • Apple

  • Water

  • Bath

  • Eat

  • Drink

  • Bed

  • Brush Teeth

  • Pretzel

  • Orange

  • Blanket

  • Berries

  • Light

  • Monkey

  • Fish

  • Cookie

  • Open

Memories

Lainey continues to love music. We listen to music every single day. Her favorite songs are Jesus Loves Me, This Little Light of Mine, The Animals on the Farm, and A Thousand Years.

A Thousand Years is our song. We have been watching the song on YouTube where a bunch of moms sing being signed, and when Lainey wants the song played, she'll start doing some sign from the song! That has yet to be captured on video or in a photo but it is really incredible!

Lainey loves singing, reading, playing with her food truck, pushing her shopping cart around one handed, and playing in her closet. Her love for Mack has grown (if that was at all possible). She loves to crawl into his bed and call him into it with her. Then she will pet or hang onto his head while she sucks on her thumb. She also just loves dogs in general. When we have client dogs in, she must check on them MULTIPLE times per day. We obviously are super excited about this!

Other things we have recently learned about Lainey is that she is very particular and orderly. If she sees an open door, she must close it. If she sees a hat, mitten, sunglasses, or head lamp, it must be worn. This makes for some really fun outfits around the house!

I absolutely love her crazy, hard-to-tame hair! Her hair is curly and fuzzy in the back, but the curls can also be straightened when I finger through them. I am very excited to see what her hair grows into be - curly, wavy, straight?!

Lastly, if I had only one word to describe my Lainey girl, it would be SWEET. I can't say it enough- she is just so sweet! We get many unprompted kisses throughout the day- as if she is saying thank you, and I love you. For example, I will get her a snack, and she will turn and give me a kiss. I will help her with her drink, and I'll get a kiss. We will take a selfie, and she plants a kiss on my check. Mack gets so many kisses too! The love she expresses to us is the best thing in the entire world!

Alaina Tyler, you are my world! Being YOUR MOM is the best thing I will ever do and be in life. I love you more than words could ever say.
